There once was a little Indian boy. And as a rite of passage, he had to climb to the nearby mountain top and come back down.
When he got to the top of the mountain it was very cold and he found a snake. The snake said to him, "please take me down. Because if you don't, I will surely freeze and die."
And the little boy said, "surely if I touch you, you will bite me and I will die."
But the snake said, "no, no. I won't bite you. I promise."
So the little boy picked him up and carried him to the bottom. When they got to the bottom, the snake was warmed up and promptly bit the boy.
As the boy lyed dying he said, "I thought you said you wouldn't bite me!"
And the snake replied....
"You knew what I was when you picked me up. "
