This or any other of the LTL companies in SLC. Excellent home time, good money and great benefits. What I don't know and you will have to ask is if they all start on night shift.Chinatown Thanks this.

As an inexperienced driver, to make "real money"....most dry van & reefer companies will want you to stay out for several weeks at a time.
This is obviously not a good choice -- if the grandkids luv their nana.
Dot Transportation is an exception; you can apply there -- but be advised, they have a very good reputation -- & thus they can be picky.
But don't let that stop/dissuade you from trying.
Dot will most likely have you home weekly.
Be sure to ask other carriers how often they will normally get you home (then later, get it in writing -- if you plan/decide to drive for one).

Dollar amounts usually begin with a $ sign. It costs different amounts of money in different parts of the country to do normal things. $5k per month in NYC is poverty. $3k per month in Mississippi is living like a King. So if we don't know the number of dollars you consider decent enough the answers you get won't help you.

There is a lot of tanker work in SLC. EVERY NEWBIE should always get double/triples, tanker, and probably HazMat.The tests are easy. The free practice tests are on this web site. I prefer TruckerCountry.com 10 versions of every endorsement test. Keep practicing until you routinely get 90% and then go take the real tests.
