100%.
The place I work at is about 80% Indians and they're almost all lazy and arrogant. I've yet to see one of them actually do a pre-trip inspection that involves more than sitting in the cab using the steering wheel as a place to hold their cell phones while they play with them for five minutes before leaving the yard.
What do you like about trucking in Canada?

It's seems to more like 90% from what I see. Even the companies that have ads out on Kijiji most of the companies are South Asian. Even regarding Freight Brokers in Canada..Dispatchers, Mechanics etc. It is what it is and this is the new Canada.
Nothing is going to change, and as much as many don't want to think this way they either have to get use to it or retire from Trucking. With over 1.45 Billion in India alone, and probably additional 15 million living in North America, South America, Africa, Europe, Australia etc. They definitely win the populous trophy. A good majority love trucking, so they will dominate in Canada. -
I been doing line haul NW Ontario…cuz I like to be home every day!
Very little traffic at night but what there is BEWARE…2 head on fatal collisions with semi Wednesday am..one on my west run,,other on the east run..NorthEastTrucker Thanks this. -
Funny you say how lazy they are ,i just saw yesterday an Indian o/o for Routes transport with his landing gear almost all the way to the ground . He just came off the 401 east and was sitting off Hurontario off ramp . I couldn’t believe it , i had a car in front of me so i couldn’t say anything to the driver . Obviously he was in a rush when he hooked up to the trailer and forgot to raise the landing gear upBigHossVolvo Thanks this.

#### that's a serious wreck. I'm going to be driving that way to Thunder Bay tomorrow back home. Sure hope those highways are clear on a Saturday afternoon.

I'm one of those 400k. Not a hope in hell would consider OTR before exhausting every other possible option. OTR is pretty much bottom of the barrel it seems these days.BigHossVolvo Thanks this.

Naw dude, we see this all the time In Calgary, they might put 3-4 cranks into it; and off they go! The worst offenders, are the scabby power only ABL's, pulling the big boys Trailers Calgary to Vancouver. I was just saying to myself today, if I was the CVSE/DOT, I would just setup on Glenmore Trail at Ogden Road, catch all the Calgary/Vancouver rounders, make an absolute killing!

They have taken over dump trucks around the Toronto area . one reason both my dad and myself sold our trucks . I can’t figure out how these guys make any money owning daycabs . i see hourly rates of $35-40 a hour , that’s ridiculous when you have to pay for everything
I’m about done with your regular type trucking had another day off . I have a phone interview setup with waste connections on the 6th for garbage truck . $28.70 a hr and guaranteed 10 hrs . From what i read will be more like 12-14 hrs a day . that’s more than what most local tractor trailer jobs are paying and with this job i never have to worry about my job being affected by the economy , technology or any other world event. Not the most glamorous job, not one bit but it’s about me surviving long term in the future. As long as we have humans we need garbage trucks and most new Canadians seem to be not interested in itLast edited: Jan 25, 2025
