I really like audio books, especially old westerns. check out Louis Lamour. Sirius radio is another thing that is a great buy, I prefer the classic rewind station and NFL station.
baadtrucker Thanks this. -
Thanks for your input this really helps. Ive been looking through a couple different sirius and xm radios which seems like the best idea for me. Does anyone have any suggestions on which one to buy? what is reliable? or any problems you have had with them?

As for the aircards, which one do you use? brinkj23- is verizon a good one to get or do they overcharge? Id like to find out the best one to get for the truck and one that is reasonably priced. What you guys think?

I think bang for the buck...go to your local library and take out about 6 unabridged audio books. After a while, you get all caught up with what Audible has to offer and you have credits with nothing to buy from them.
I like my Sprint aircard by the way, it works everywhere I have been and it is quite fast.
They all have ups and downs...data plans are all about the same. Mine is 59 a month. I would pay three times that amount to keep the net on my dash. -
I used a blackberry pearl as my modem (same thing as an aircard just didnt need an additional line for it. I had a plan through Alltel (which is now Verizon) It was 110 a month for unlimited everything including internet on the computer. Now its different being its verizon so I wouldnt know what the plan would be like with them seeing as im still under an Alltel contract. As far as sirius radio the one I had was a Sportster 5, I love this radio a little more expensive but the other ones I had crapped out after 6 months. Also if ya get sirius get the fm direct connect. It is a box that basically interupts the antenna so you get a crystal clear signal.

I have a MP3 player that I use and love it. I only listen to 30 different songs so it is an interesting day for my bosss to hear me seeing Lady Gaga every other hour
. I do things somewhat differently than other drivers when I stop for the night. I pull in, make note on my logs where I am and what time I arrived, have dinner. I then get my shower out of the way and take care of paperwork including reviewing the numbers on my logs and completing them. I do an after pretrip to ensure my truck and trailer is tip top condition and hit the bunk. I do not have a TV handy but have a couple random DVD's that get played on my Lap top.
For my 34hr, I am away from my truck most of the time. If I'm in Ontario, I go to Six Flags and spend the day there and get a cab back (not cheap but worth the cost). Also, I go to the mall, book store, and the air museum in Chino. Anywhere else, I look up whats to do there on the internet. To me, my 34hr is my vacation period. I take advantage of seeing the cities up close and personal that I would normally pass.

^ That's an intresting way of looking at it, taking your restart as your vacation time.

Thats why I do not understand how some of these companies expect drivers to stay with truck the whole time and babysit the thing...
Reset away from home would mean PARTY TIME to me! -
Me I used sprint air card for 69 a month and it was unlimited. But when sitting doing a reset get the heck out of the truck and go explore!
