Will I make it home on this steer tire?

Agree with others. Fix it now. Not worth anyone's life just to get home.

Find the closest spring shop ASAP. It's not safe at all. I wouldn't even trust that bobtailing unless it was under 30mph for only a couple miles.

 

Better question. Is risking your life worth more then being late getting home? Id be getting that thing towed personally. Screw limping to a shop. That other leaf goes and your going to have bigger issues then the boss annoyed your getting towed.

 

So how do you run with it and keep an eye on it at the same time?
How do you know when a piece will fly off?

You being you is a very dangerous thing.

 

It's just how I was brought up, make it work. If it were me I'd probably put a U-bolt on the busted spring to keep it there and stop to check it periodically. I'm not saying it's right by any means, but if you gotta make something work then so be it. The guy asked for opinions and I gave mine, others are allowed to disagree

 

While I agree with this, it's not the main leaf that's broke, what Dave says was true years ago. That, my friend, would get you an "atta boy", but today, I doubt people have a pocket knife, much less anything to cobble it to get back. In this case, I wouldn't chance it, and get it repaired. It was a good catch however.

 

zip ties, keep tightening, rub some grease on it, then dirt…

 

Don’t forget spit on it. Maybe dribble some blood for good measure. Makes it look authentic. Like a blood bond.

 

I know I'm not a driver yet but you need to get it fixed asap. It's not worth your life or someone else's. But you do what you want. I hope it doesn't fly off and kill someone. Then they will yank your license and you'll be going home but only after you get out of jail. Just plain dumb to risk it
