do you really want to shoot a gun when youre half asleep?

 

Better than not shooting a gun when you're half dead...

 

what if the attacker is unarmed, you're half asleep and draw the gun too slowly, hold it improperly, or something, and attacker takes it from you and shoots you with your own gun.

What if it's not really an attacker and it's a ####### shipper telling you your loads ready but you forgot to lock the door, so he just climbs in to tell you...and then you shoot him.... Off to the gray bar motel for you...

i take a few minutes to wake up usually. i sure couldnt just wake up and make the shoot/dont shoot split second decision as soon as i wake up!

 

Easy answer if your an idiot you shouldn't have a gun to start with and sounds like you don't need one.

If I'm in a locked truck and someone is breaking in I guarantee you that I will wake up very quickly.. I guess it's the Marine in me.. But I have a feeling that I'm not alone..

I'm am very experienced and capable with firearms.. I guarantee that no one will be taking my gun away from me, sleepy or not..

As far as a shipper entering a truck and mistakenly getting shot.. If your door is locked this shouldn't be a problem.. If he's stupid enough to break into your truck to tell you the dock is open, you're probably doing the gene pool a favor by shooting him..

 

The 2nd Amendment has NOTHING to do with hunting. Virginia Tech DID happen in a "gun free zone", where the police were the only ones who were LEGALLY armed. Criminals don't give a rats rear end about the laws...if they want to cause harm to others, they will do so...and typically select locations where they can do maximum damage with minimal risk to themselves. When was the last time you heard about a mass shooting at an NRA convention or gun show? Guns in the hands of law abiding citizens are a deterrent to criminals.

As for the federal regs, there are none. You must, however, abide by the transportation rules for each state you pass through. For example, if you are in Missouri, you can have it loaded sitting right next to you. Cross over in to Illinois, and it must be unloaded, in a case, and if you are not an Illinois resident with a FOID, it must also be inaccessible from the passenger compartment or broken down. 48 states. 48 sets of rules for transportation. CCW reciprocity makes things a little easier IF you have a permit...but if you travel into a state that does not recognize your permit, you must know the rules. If you don't know the rules, it is easy to get in trouble...and the company who owns the truck you are driving and/or the trailer you are pulling would rather not have to pay a tow bill and impound fee or even forfeiture of the truck if the state law allows law enforcement to seize it. Drivers are a dime a dozen. They don't care about your safety.

I live in Georgia, just a few miles from the SC line. Several years ago a friend and I were out in the woods just looking for a place to blast off a few rounds.
A game warden pulled us over thinking we were illegally hunting. We explained what we were doing and he just told us to put the pistol in the glove box and get the hell out of there.
Problem was, the .44 with 8 inch barrel wouldn't fit. While we went through the useless charade of trying to turn it different ways to make it go in, he just walked off.
