I'm a new o/o that just got started last fall. In the company trucks I drove alignments were something that seldom ever got done in the company shop. If it was out real bad they'd tell us to go to a petro. In my search for a place that can do an alignment and do it right I ended ruining a set of bridgestone steer tires in only 70,000 miles and they still had 14/32's of tread left.

Well I finally found a place in Nashville, TN that does an A#1 alignment job. I got new steers balanced and mounted then drove 15 miles down the road and let them at it all 3 axles. When I got it back I and after driving it I couldn't believe the difference when everything is set right. My truck feels like a brand new truck with absolutely no shimmy or shaking at any speeds. It now rolls perfectly down the highway. I thought it was a tad pricey but I'm sure now it's the best $320 I ever spent.

My question is how often do you drivers here get alignments either done or just checked as a part of routine maintinencee? Thanks in advance to everyone for your input.

Lastly, I dont know if this is against the rules or not but the name of place that did if for me is Tafa Inc. They were highly recommended to me by several friends and I highly recommend them myself. The local dealers around this area even send trucks to them. All they do is chasis straightening, tire truing. and alignments. Nashville MHC Kenworth charged me for a 3 axle alignment and these people told me it was obvious they dint do much to my steer axle. In fact they told me MHC didnt even have the right tools to a proper front axle alignment and practically no-one in the area does. But they didnt have a prob
em with charging me to do it. I'll never let those overpriced lying halfassed jokers do anything to my truck ever again.

I get mine aligned 2 times a year, if it needs it or not. They are pretty good at catching things when they get to see the truck more often, like torque rod bushings, they are the biggest thing for me running around here on our 'wonderful' Oklahoma roads.

It helps to have the trailer done at the same time, that way its all running in line

I've only had my truck for a little over a year, and had it aligned when I bought it and checked when I put new steers on it about six months ago, it's probably time to get it checked again. $320 sounds a little high, but it's hard to put a price on getting something done right the first time these days. I've had bad experiences getting MHC to actually do the work I pay them for too, at their Knoxville and Memphis locations.

I have a 3 axle alignment when ever I put new steer tires on. $320 is not a bad price. one time it cost me too to have new tires installed without proper alignment. cost more in tires, than the alignment itself.

Also on my truck , the type of tires sure made a difference. kelly steers would bounce my eyeballs outta my head. the b.f.Goodrich is a world of difference better. for the first time I put on centramatics when I had the new steers put on. so far so good, but only 30,000 miles.

I am an alignment tech. I recommend once a year. We charge $199 Canadian for 3 axles.

Yep that's it. On Foster Ave. Take I-24 west to the Murfreesboro Rd. exit that's the one just beyond where I-440 splits off. Left on M'boro Rd go under the railroad overpass Foster Ave will be a left turn after that. You'll see Thermoking on the left go past that under another RR bridge and Tafa will be in a yellow building on the right. They're monday through friday I think the hours are 7am-5pm phone# 1-800-920-4471
