FCC--Fremont Contract Carriers

Precisely why I decided to switch from linehaul (out 18 days, home 5) to regional/local (home every weekend Friday night to Monday morning). Did I lose any $? Nope. Matter of fact, I make more. My kid and grandkids are my #1 priority and I need to see them as much as they need to see me.

 

My biggest issue right now is that my company lost the contract with our “bread and butter” client. Work has gotten terribly slow. The only work that I can find that pays anywhere near what I was making is on the road at least five days per week if not more. Not a good situation. Then of course we just bought our “retirement home” late last year so I can’t afford a pay cut now either. Yes I know, bad planning to buy this house at 53 y.o.

 

I always had less home time running local than OTR . Only had time to sleep, now regional with a good weekend home is the best balance. I mean like a full weekend not a 34 out the door.

 

Amen to that! I went to orientation for a company last February. Sounded great. They didn’t pay the best, but the perks were pretty great. Until I actually thought about it. 34 off and when I factored in the fact that it was an hour and 20 minute drive to and from the yard, well, I decided it wasn’t all that I was thinking and never drive for them. Now I’m home Friday and out Monday. Work about 50-58 hours a week. All I need.

 

that’s what I did when i was initially SWR. I worked the occasional half Saturday if needed but mostly i got home Friday, left Monday, and FCC gave me no grief over it. A 34 isn’t a weekend at home

 

It's not even enough time to take a dump . Is rather stay out a few weeks and take a week off

 

. Nobody lays in their deathbed wishing they worked more.

 

Are you gonna move your car from council bluffs to the KC yard?

 

I doubt it. I’ll probably take it home. If i’m gonna be home every weekend, it would be a big waste of gas and time. 99% of the time I was under a load when i went on hometime
