I just moved from a regional position at my employer to a local. I make alittle less money but I’m home every night and have most weekends off. My mother is sick, COPD and dementia, so I needed to be around more. She just had a stint in ICU but is bouncing back, this time. Overtime over 40, if I work on a weekend it’s min. 8 hrs pay for about 4-5 hrs work. I drove 2 miles today in 8 hrs. doing shuttle work. I’ll deal with less money to have a life again…

Throw it away....that's what I do. 24 years in MO and was summoned twice, 13 years in KS and I swear I've had 6+ summons.

    Opti-idle.
Making a long story short. During the first year the Opti-idle had some kind of strange effect on my truck inverter and the Espar.

The inverter was changed 5 times and the Espar unit has been repaired many times.

Hopefully fingers crossed and knock on wood will see how things turn and continue to evaluate the performance after it's last visit to the shop in Fremont.

hope not dumb twucker Thanks this.

Opti-idle setup worked descent at another company i was at. It wasn't meant to supply power to electronics or other stuff though. If you wanted to use a microwave or something you had to run it while the truck was running before using the Opti-idle. It was supposed to supply just enough power to keep the fridge running and lights going. It did a fairly good job of keeping the cabs temperature in the right range.

Espar would constantly have issues. Normally the combustion chamber would be clogged and need to be cleaned and/or replaced. It was pretty reliable, once every month or two it would have issues and stop working. That's why i carry a space heater with me.

It actually wasn't bad. I didn't get passed at all, but had to pass someone doing 61 in a 65. Nice views. Could see it being packed in the summer time and nights could be an issue with all the wildlife.

Knucklehead and Long FLD Thank this.

LOL … well that made my day. I’m glad I could make a friend laugh. If you were then caused to be running late, just tell your DM that it was my fault… :)

Well, when one owns like 7 cars, one could leave a car in both CB and KC and still have 5 to choose from on the weekends… ;-)

    Thank you brother!
It's good to have you back again posting here with your FCC family.
We know that being a truck driver is not a easy job and sometimes we need a good joke to laugh.

I’ll add 0.02 to the comments above from other Drivers…

There has to be more to life than 11/14/10/70/34 … rinse n repeat … rinse n repeat … rinse n repeat … rinse n repeat … rinse n repeat
    … and did I mention,

    … rinse n repeat???

I try to look to the very few benefits of OTR such as there are times I can be in NE on a Sunday morning to attend Church with my Friends from IL, or I can be in IL to visit family and maybe a couple friends there, or be in GA to visit my oldest daughter in Savannah (if she has time for dad) … or maybe even take a weekend away in Flagstaff AZ or Chattanooga TN on my way by with a load (still haven’t done that)…

not too many jobs can do that

but even that is mostly grabbing a go bag from the 35’ mini Class 8 RV and filled with doing laundry to get ready to go back out... rinse n repeat.

So ya, there aren’t too many benefits to being out here day after day after day living in an 8x8 box and taking a “day off” while sitting in some random Rest Area or some piss covered parking lot of a truck stop.

But I do enjoy the drive,
    So there’s that… I guess.

    stay safe everyone
    and find your more
    {rinse n repeat… again}
