Staying in shape is pretty much a full time job after 55 — lay off for a month and it takes two to get it back and each get back becomes progressively painful

 

That's why I don't do it. No sense in being disappointed in one's self every day. I like me just as I am.

 

When I loose interest in packing elk and chasing wild bird dogs I’ll let myself go, till that day I will continue to endeavor to persevere

That said, my understanding is that you do the majority of your elk and bird hunting on motorized transportation. No real need to punish yourself in the meantime.
