Company driver not LP
(Edit: not to mention they honored their garunteed pay 2 times the entire time I was employed there despite meeting the requirements nearly every week. It was always some excuse to short me despite doing my job
Beware of WEL companies

So how long have you been driving and how many companies have you worked for? I'm with the other posters you should have quit the very first time your pay got shorted. I've learned that quitting isn't always a bad thing, sometimes it's just a form of redirection. It's the quitting with no direction that's bad.
Sometimes when I read these, I wish I could see what actually goes on in the drivers seat. Many drivers blame the company but sometimes drivers run their miles incorrectly, or have too much rigidity in how they run.Lonesome Thanks this. -
I try to do my best, I'm not perfect, ive been late but I don't make it a habit, it happens, traffic, delays, accident, weather it's part of the job and most you can do is manage time and try to plan accordingly, just keep dispatch informed
I would have quit but did exactly that at my last company and that left me stranded with no way home asking why Im not gonna get my money for 16+ hours detention pay these companies would rather just fire you than tell you why they shorted you now it seems?
I'd of gladly quit but I still can't afford my hazmat cert and not a single carrier in florida where I live pays what I need or fits my desire for the job, I'd go work at mcdonalds to make the difference before I drive a daycab or work for Swift, Crete, Werner, Prime or some of these other scam artist carriers in Florida paying 50cpm or less, then it just looks bad to hire on somewhere knowing you're leaving in a month or two the moment you get the money you need and half the time results in them trying to be petty and screw you over or DAC you
This is what happened with my last 2 carriers and it's a total waste because you can't even make yourself care about working under them -

Long FLD, Lonesome and gentleroger Thank this. -
Just out of curiosity, what is their supposed minimum "guarantee?
Lonesome Thanks this. -
You're in a bad place for OTR jobs and local jobs don't pay too much because of all the imported labor there. I used to live in the Tampa area and found out the hard way that anything South of 10 is hard knocks.
Move up to Jacksonville if you want more opportunity or drive to a carrier in Georgia, Mississippi or Alabama if you're pressed to stay driving. Anything is better than giving labor away. Labor is priceless. Don't underestimate it.
Also, I think you should know that transportation is a shifty business full of shady people. So if you give any carrier an inch they're going to take you a mile.
Furthermore, you're already getting screwed when you aren't getting paid hourly so an employer already knows you're not on top of your game the minute you agree to any other arrangement and they will take advantage of it.Last edited: Feb 27, 2025

Haven't even called heyl, theyre close but no idea what their pay is
I wanted to get back into tanker because it's the only way I ever made money and it was pretty good.
Dry van and reefer are just money drains with me getting sub $500 paychecks, if i dont get at least a $1000 a week It's not worth the hassle, always slow freight and long load/unload times
I might consider heyl since they're close but still worried since they're a mega. site is saying 54-56cpm, ive already turned down a ton of carriers on that kinda pay and I don't think they haul all lower 48 meaning short "super regional" and more dock time,
Only reason i might consider heyl is because they're about the closest one to me, just sucks because nothing in Florida fits the bill for what I want and already know I'm worried I'm kinda just gonna go in there pissed off and it won't work outbryan21384 and Lonesome Thank this. -
