Panther platform cars are the only ones i would recommend for that type of work. They’re large, V8, RWD, body on frame sedans with a drivetrain that is widely known to be able to take a ton of abuse that would kill other cars and still keep going. The P71’s and commercial chassis also have heavy duty suspension, brakes, extra cooling, etc.. They are cheap and easy to repair if it breaks down or are involved in a minor accident. Then again they’re only a car so their versatility is limited compared to a pickup

And I could be wrong, but 100k a year might be a bit much. These folks aren't like us living on the road. The ones I have had did a load out from their home area, tried to find one back, then took a day or three at home. And with congestion curfews and daylight to dark curfews in the east, it's not like they're running 6-700 miles a day, especially in the winter months.

This true about airplanes too. I worked for an air cargo company They generally flew Monday night thru Friday mornings unless some chartered for the weekend. Always had maintenance issues Monday night when they started fly again rarely during the week when they flew almost non stop.

Their transfer tanks are only for their trucks. (Selfish, right!?) they are plumbed directly into the tank. For most of what we do we can manage to get our own fuel. I’ve only run into one issue when running western Canada with a 17’ tall load where I had to drop my load because there was no fuel stops on route. We just found a side road on the edge of a major town and bobtailed to the fuel station.

We may eventually have some work that’s really high value, almost irreplaceable, and Close to 30’ wide. Those loads will go no where near a truck stop. I’m going to push for at least a transfer tanks on the front of my trailer that I can fill before the load. We could always drop one in the back of a pickup and have them shuttle fuel to us I guess.

it’s the only major in town so it’s pretty busy. It’s also basically the only true truck stop for quite a ways. Newton to the north and all the way into Oklahoma to the south.

Got the chance to sit in a new Frontier and to say it’s very cramped in there is an understatement, which sucks. I should’ve known that with my stature, full size trucks are really my only option. I can fit in an F-150 or GMC Sierra with zero issues but for some reason mid size trucks seem so much smaller on the inside. Although i do remember that i fit reasonably well in a Ranger. But that was a 22 or 23 model before the new one came out in 24. I’ve never sat in a Colorado/Canyon. I’d only get the 4 cylinder non turbo though. The GM 3.6 is up there with one of the worst engines GM ever made. I think i’d rather take a Northstar over a GM 3.6, which says a lot

My 21 canyon elevation has the 3.6 in it and it’s a great motor.

I dont know what I was on when I posted that, but I swear that my 2024 is different than my 2023 that I had, regarding the seats. I remember having to scoot the seat up just a hair on the 2023, but the 2024 I have all the way back and only have maybe a half inch between my knee and the dash. I still drive my 98 Ram most of the time and I think maybe I had the 2 confused somehow. It most definitely is a cramped lil bugger. The more I drive the Nissan, the less I drive it intentionally.

I'll stick with my '98 'burban, I'm 6'3" and 4.5 bills and have plenty of room, plus none of the nanny or other electronic BS.
