Just pulled a load out of Paw Paw to Pageland, SC. Paid $2.94 2 full days on the truck so daily revenue was kind of low but didn’t have to push myself either.

Your right. I get guys inquiring about leasing on. I tell them my rates. They’re like that’s good. Then I tell them what I do and where I run. They are no longer interested… The easy breezy stuff that pays fine doesn’t exist long term. Easy breezy means competition.

What do they load out of there on a van? I'll see Paw Paw loads listed 4 flat but don't have a clue what the product is?

I’ve seen those loads pay much better. 2013. I did them quite a bit. Till others jumped back in. Small window of a Truck Shortage made a big difference

$3.50 per mile would’ve been ideal and put me with a decent daily revenue. Was plenty of dry loads over where I delivered in Muskegon area paying around $2.40 to Florida. I took the one to SC because I usually can get $3.00 or close to it from Florence to my house. One day loads $1,500-$1,800.

Problem right now is that nothing is consistent.
I’m sitting too much trying to get a rate that makes sense but I’m starting to go insane sitting. Or I can go insane running around nonstop doing $1.25 per mile crap.
Sadly, neither option is a winning choice.

Giving it until the end of May, not going to waste another summer on the road for nothing.

I know what you mean. I was doing that on short trips. Lose one day, whole weeks shot. I’m probably going to start running mine again. That Alabama load is right up my ally. Once out of the house, I do good on the gulf coast. Local JOB’s suck. Might as well be a miserable factory worker. Not much different. Huge pay gap between the College jobs and unskilled Labor. Crummy factory jobs are paying $14-$17 hr. All foreigners, mainly Bangladesh immigrants. A few ex-cons, and former drug addicts. I’m sure tax hiring incentives are driving hiring. No OT available. I wonder who they think will fill more factory jobs if they do appear. No one wants the ones available now. I also if pay will increase if so. Seems it would have to increase. It’s just a shock how things have changed since last time I worked Local in 1995. All the Drivers are foreigners. Plenty of older ones can’t speak English at all. They’re all invested in an Industry they know nothing about as far as history is concerned. They all complain about pay, and conditions, be it local or otr. Trucking has turned a corner, and isn’t ever going to get back to anything like the past.

To Food Lion? Some of those loads are juice and require a reefer. I remember running one about 3 years ago

Mine was Paw Paw, MI to Eloree, SC for $3400 in Oct '22. Same deal, not a great rate for the time involved but it was much better than anything else I was looking at.
