Absolutely. It turns into a "war" of attrition. Servicing the customer at a loss hoping they'll outlast their competition. Taking runs on losing lanes to again try to "win" their battle. It's a strategy that might work for a mega that has other lucrative customers to subsidize their loss from the courting customer but for the majority of carriers it's simply bad math in the long run.

There are no real winners in the long run unless they have very limited competition. Even the "winners" eventually lose to their competitors.

I agree; but why stay in the seat then?

Was juice but went to the Walmart DC in Pageland.
That DC is fast! I’m at 6:15 out by 7:00 ftl.

Yeah but it was chilled 32* and back in late 2022. Nothing stays the same or lasts. That was actually surprising at the time I just put some bids on different ones to see what would stick. That was prebooked a few days before pickup. Rates were mostly garbage back then same as I'm sure they are now that was just one of the ones that I hung on with working from week to week.

Tomorrow, when brokers gonna offer me some stupid rates, every time I am just gonna say "Haha, nice April Fool's joke, so what's the real rate? ".

Last week I booked 1500 miles for $3000, my worst week since 2016.
That's how much some flatbed drivers get for a 600 mile load right now. Open deck is currently on fire, hopefully dry vans will follow in a month.

Concorde, Rideandrepair and Siinman Thank this.
