Even if you know your way around, LA is still bad.

Don't be scared.. I've known alot of guys that come from the eastern US, they come out west and really enjoy it.. there's hardly any traffic west of i-35 until u get to the major cities which are hundreds and hundreds of miles in between them...

Cool, the biggest city I've been to is Houston and traffic wasn't that bad, traffic is good but that's not even what's worries me, what worries me the most is delivering a load to these big cities and going to tight areas there. I get nervous going to places I haven't been before...

Use satellite view on Google Maps. You'll be able to see if it's tight or wide open. Peek at the turns getting there from the freeway. Being aware of any obvious issues beforehand reduces the stress dramatically. It let's you have at least a basic ballpark plan of what you're facing and how to deal with it. Sure it'll need adjustments, but that way easier than flying in blind.

Edit: and have a map available. There's lots of alternative freeway routing you can do if you see an incident when you check traffic on Google. It's been too long too remember now, but I used to have no go stretches of freeway at certain times of the day.

Southwest isnt bad, Ivebeenrunning in and out ofLA for years. Take you time leave early, reallyno big deal. This crap they all talk about driving in Ca, I dont know maybe you get what you look for. Just not that bad. Stay in the right two lanes, keep it under 60 and you'll be fine.

    nextgentrucker Thanks this.

People on their very first driving solo do it. People who don't speak English can do it. People who want you to believe they don't speak English do it. People whose entire wardrobe consists of a pair of pee stained red jogging pants, a food spotted sleeveless t-shirt, and shower shoes with green fungus growing on them...all of them worn for at least three weeks consecutively... do it.

You can do it. Relax. Have fun with it.
