How to sell an authority and mc number?

Could a sole proprietor sell their authority?

 

Since DOT numbers aren’t transferable..MC numbers were.

What happens when they officially end the MC numbers? Will it put an end to this practice?

No but if you change over to an LLC or corporation you can and the DOT number goes with it because you are selling a business not an authority. Anyone telling you otherwise is not talking from experience. FMCSA will allow a sole proprietor to change business structure one time only.

 

I have a 6 digit # 49xxxx created in August 2004. I’d guesstimate 547xxx created soon thereafter. Early 2005 maybe.

 

If clean record, it could be a hot sale...looks like it. ha ha ha
