Run across this today from 2019. North Florida to Cozad Nebraska. We was sittin on the side rail of what I call the Eldorado cutoff at Leon Kansas. Right where you hook the right off of 400 West onto 77North.
Ol Doc was still young a perty there and the young ladies in that bunch just couldn’t leave him alone. Not those girls got one his pups now. Both their husbands say Doc you’re a ####### lmao. That bunch of young guys was top notch. What came on when they had enough of the cow hauling was bottom of the barrel for most part.

Not sure what ur time frame is but thought I'd pipe in, don't know if u got a ritchie bros near u or not . Seems alot of the yards have alot of random tools and boxes going for auction.. ive scored a couple good deals on used tools and stuff that just sits on the shelf and collects dust.. always got my eye out for random junk , I'm worse than a pack ratcke, High Stepper, wore out and 10 others Thank this.

fkkkkk that .cke, exhausted379, Speedy356 and 8 others Thank this.

Thanks that’s definitely a source I hadn’t thought of. I’m a pack rat too especially on tools and parts. Basically #### I might need but will never use.. I have seen a Ritchie bros yard but I can’t remember maybe Memphis Icke, High Stepper, Cowpuncher575 and 9 others Thank this.

Im not a huge auction fan, but Ritchie Bros. Is one I enjoy! Their auctioneers are the best in the business in my opinioncke, High Stepper, Cowpuncher575 and 7 others Thank this.

There is. and even better when you have the good sense to run a tap thru the treads before replacing. Never had/got to benefit on any I done, but somewhere in MS there is a mechanic that should thank me as he easily removes some massive liftruck bolts.
And the second head gasket replacement because of block holes crud. Torque on gasket compression, not crud in a shallow hole bottom.
Highlight of unbolting something !! A forklift used in a readymix pipe pouring operation. Pours like slusjh, settles like a hard gritty over layer of all bolts and fasteners. Wire brush all heads to try to fit a wrench.cke, austinmike, Cowpuncher575 and 9 others Thank this. -
Smaller rigs, lot less lights, that is 7 of J.T. Garrard's; lined out, that left S. Lebanon, OH for Vera Cruz, Mexico in 1956/7.cke, austinmike, High Stepper and 9 others Thank this.

And some people look at you like you’re crazy when you tell them to run a tap down headbolt holes, followed by brake cleaner and air.
That’s what came out of ONE headbolt hole on my Cat when I overhauled it.
Also, if you use a bottoming tap on a 5.9/6.7 (B series) Cummins when doing headstuds, you gain at least three more threads engagement in the block. The stud will be flush with the nut when you’re done, instead of sticking out the top 1/4”.Last edited: Apr 15, 2025
