Almost 2 years ago, I applied online to a local company because I was thinking of changing jobs. After a couple of weeks I changed my mind and decided to stay where I was. About 3 weeks later, I saw where they had called twice; once during the afternoon, and again the next morning. It was a few days after before I looked up their website and confirmed that it was their number. If I were to apply again, would they remember this and not hire me?

A quick google search reveals that employers are required to keep applications on file for 1 year, even those that are not hired. Of course, they may have put me on their ‘no-hire’ list for not answering their phone calls. On the other hand, it’s not like I ghosted a job interview or worse, the 1st day on the job (I’ve heard of people doing that, albeit not really in the trucking industry), so perhaps it’s not that big of a deal.

You're probably one of hundreds they called. And 2 yrs ago? Don't thing they'll remember unless they get their feelings hurt easily.

Not returning a call is not that big a deal usually. Most companys want meat in a seat and if you dont want the job someone else usually will. I wouldnt worry unless you ghosted them or did something especially stupid to annoy them.

Depends on the company. In 2019 I turned down a job with DOT foods. In 2024 when I applied at DOT foods again the first question at the interview was “so what changed from 2018 when you turned down a job with DOT foods to today”.
The interview didn’t go well after that.

With that said I’m sure I could apply and get accepted at any of the megas I’ve turned down though. So EH???

They might. I applied with Maverick years ago when I lived in Florida. I informed them I was moving to Arkansas, but they wouldn't hire me until I had physically moved. I ended up not moving for a couple of years. When I called a back after I moved, they knew who I was by my phone number.

Apply again and see what happens. Then you'll be able to have an answer to your own question.

    Zonno Thanks this.
