On the flip side, they mention there is no problem with USA to Canada freight...meaning Canadians are hauling our freight into their country, probably 80% or better...pretty good setup. Make it hard for us to backhaul, but not for them to backhaul or haul freight from here to here..carbotage violation, I believe? Maybe that's why they're crying about it? It would seem that this is another one of those barriers or mechanisms to trade affecting American truckers unfairly, that the tariffs are perfectly designed to address. They're afraid their truckers will be subject to the same conditions our truckers have had to endure all this time, dealing with falling rates etc, that may cause a company to go under. Welcome to reality, Canada. -
"American truckers aren't going up there to pull freight down, even as a backhaul...the reasons are many but from what I've heard, one of the reasons for deadhead out of Canada, is the onerous Border shipping and the timing requirements.."
Any backhaul from Canada to the US by American trucks would be affected by US Customs clearance requirements, no different than any other shipment gping into the US regardless of the carriers nationality. any difficulty would be a result of US clearance, nothing to do with Canadian regulations.
Cabotage has always been an issue on both sides of the border, lack of enforcement is in my opinion the biggest problem there.Magoo1968, TheLoadOut, Siinman and 4 others Thank this. -
I live near Detroit and see Canadian trucks on a daily basis, I feel like 80% of the drivers are from India or somewhere nearby.Opendeckin, NorthEastTrucker, Siinman and 5 others Thank this. -

I wonder if shipments from Canada to Mexico are exempt from tariffs. Must be. The last company I worked for does that. Steel Coils. They have an ad for a Local Driver now for Canada runs.
