I am going to be purchasing a 2018 peterbilt 389 with a 9 car trailer. Is it very difficult to find a experienced car hauler that is willing to drive from north east to midwest?

Are you looking for a driver?

If so, there are a lot of desperate drivers out there now.

I would think finding a good car hauler driver would be difficult plus the insurance to cover him or her plus the truck. I did some car hauling many years ago.

I got started with a company that hired new drivers we did two weeks training. Loading car at BMW in Greer Sc because that was their customer. They had contact with BMW to haul the SUV’s and cars from South Carolina to the Northeast. Another company had contact to cover the cars going southbound and to Texes.

Once we unloaded in Northeast they had contact with BMW they did cars coming off the boat in New Jerseys Port. Those cars also went to the northeast and out west to Chicago. They cover all the cars going as far as Denver Colorado. Then we had to drive empty back to South carolina usually. If we had more cars then we could move at one time they might call in regular car haulers. Not sure how they did that. If your talking new cars it probably not easy to get into. The company I work for had in contract all the cars in New Jersey Port had to be on truck within like 24 hours from the time BMW released that cars. That’s why if we had time off schedule they wot cancel if if the boat showed up because the car also come first. They are out of business today that car hauling company I worked for. When the cars were on the truck we had about 3 inches from bumper to bumper to fit the cars in the truck. The new cars had plastic stops in the springs/shocks so the car did not move and we only need 3 inches space so the bumpers don’t hit each other. They had some trouble with dealers marking up small stuff on the car.

BWM had one car they loaded and inspected the car themselves and the deal still found something wrong/claim. BMW said to that dealer if they keep finding damages they would stop sending them cars. I just did new cars so don’t know anything about used car or auction cars.

Post the job and indicate 7 years car hauling experience. Thin the herd and see what kind of responses,,ya could get lucky. You know that you need a very diligent highly motivated and experienced driver.
