All you can do is try , I will say it’s not easy getting hired right now even for younger experienced drivers like myself. I’m 39 with 17 years of experience and can’t get any phone calls from any decent companies paying a decent wage. Lots of drivers looking for greener pastures with higher wages

    OldeSkool and Condi Thank this.

I’ve been looking since December. On the last phone call recruiter asked me if I have a LTL experience. In 24 years nobody asked a more stupid question than this. No one is hiring right now. They just wasting our time.

    OldeSkool Thanks this.

I road tested a guy who was 69, was retired, decided to drive again to pay for house Reno’s. He mentioned that he was being age discriminated against, because no one would call him back. I was willing to pass him, but he decided not to show up for the second phase of training because they wouldn’t guarantee a truck to himself and a 6:00 am start. Waste of my time.

Was it 30 years ago? I doubt any one in this day would turn down a decent job

“Driveaway” work is delivering new trucks to the dealerships, from the manufacturer; not RV’s. Just the same, you could deliver motorhomes/motorcoaches. No tow vehicle required.

    Lite bug Thanks this.

Looking at Kijiji and any of the online advertisers there is not many decent jobs. I could go door knocking but am not that desperate. Thanks everyone for the advice. An o/o that wants to take a month or 2 off would be perfect.

What about driving trucks to dealerships? Then they get flown home?

Wish I could help, no idea. I’d maybe contact a couple of dealers and ask who they use to bring their tractors in. I’ve seen them single, but mostly triple piggyback.
