How many true crime podcasts come out over the course of a year? How many person to person interactions are there over that same year? What are the odds that something terrible will happen to you as a result of an interaction you’ve had? Odds seem pretty low. Odds get even lower when an owner op helps another guy out when both of them have been members here for a long time. Maybe it’s small town stuff but I couldn’t imagine going through life being fearful of having an interaction with a stranger.

Unless the oil is pouring out , just run it

We just ran a rig from Knoxville to Atlanta with a bad water leak

we used 60 gallons of water to get back .

stopped every 40 miles and poured in more water

    Also
For the leaks , you can use the UV dye to find the leak

with the special glasses and the black light the leak will literally glow in the dark

People like @blairandgretchen is what this industry used to be made up of. People that offered a helping hand to anybody and everybody, stranger or not. and I'm sure he ain't gonna ask for nothing in return. Just being a gracious soul.

now this industry has turned into people like you. Wondering why somebody would offer a helping hand... that's a hell of a concept... I sure hope you never need help out here on the road one day when ur stranded in some foreign place... although people like Blair will still give u a hand because that's who they are..

First of all, it is illegal for a trucker to carry another trucker in his CMV unless the other trucker drives for the same trucking company as the guy who owns the CMV or unless one has filled out the required documents with one's company for a ride along.

Secondly, when you gave that stranger a ride from WY to ID, you were taking a huge risk. He could have gotten mad at you about something and grabbed the steering wheel while you were driving and steered your semi-truck into another vehicle. He could have taken out a gun and shot you in the head while you were in a secluded area to rob you. He could have found documents with personal information about you while in your truck and committed identity theft against you.

I have been a true crime addict all my life. Good Samaratans get victimized by strangers that they are helping all the time.

I remember the episode Killer Tattoo on the tv show Cold Case Files was about a man who committed identity theft against a trucker who was helping him. Robert Greer Jr. was a fugitive from the law. One time Greer was looking for a job, and a long distance trucker decided to help Robert Greer by giving Greer a job as a lumper. Greer would ride across the country in the semi-truck with this trucker. Greer used documents he found in this trucker's semi-truck and left the truck and committed identity theft against this trucker. Watch the episode if you don't believe me.

The serial killer Ted Bundy would put one of his arms in a sling or wore a cast on his leg and would ask college girls to help him carry his books to his car for him because he had a bum arm or a broken leg. The girls would help Bundy by carrying his books to Bundy's car, which was parked in a secluded area. When the girls got to Bundy's car, Bundy would take a tire iron wrench and knock the women out with the tire Iron wrench. Then Bundy would strangle and kill these girls who helped them.

There is even an expression for this: No good deed goes unpunished.

Do you really want to risk being in a situation where you need to leave his teeth all over your driveway?

Back in January 2022 there was a brutal cold snap, like -40 air temp in Minnesota. I was between Owatonna and Minneapolis at about midnight. Truck on the shoulder so I stop. Dude would’ve rather frozen instead of rolling his window down when I asked if he had help coming for his obviously gelled up truck. Everyone is scared of everyone anymore, and phones have made it so people don’t even know how to make small talk with another human.

@Gumper is 38 years old and has 2 teenage daughters, and lives in Butte MT. He's been a member here for 7 years, and is currently in need of help.

I have 20 acres here and a truck sitting here for a month wouldn't be in my way. But he's 400 miles away right now.

Turns out I have a good friend that is 40 miles from him, and he can safely park it there. Dave has many tools, a neighbor who is medium duty mechanical, and Dave can get him to an airport if needed. He is also very proficient with a wide range of firearms and can take care of himself.

@wore out may be able to help too - right now, he just needs to get somewhere safe and get a plan going.

Just what @D.Tibbitt said - we used to help each other out. When I became an O/O 10 years ago I quickly learned that sometimes you get in a situation that you could use some help.

I fear the state troopers around here more than I fear @Gumper .
