That's exactly right. The company will simply turn it around on him like a manipulative girlfriend.

It’s all but certain the company will play the we didn’t know card. So he should still stick it to them. If anything just to annoy his manager who’s condoning it happening.

Some decent size Home Depot have locker rooms, showers. You have to have collected a few favors from manager? Ask to be allowed to use locker room during slack times to clean up.

AT THE VERY LEAST I would ask the Home Depot where you frequent if they have a shower.
After 2 days of not being able to be in any position but some sitting position I wouldn't be able to get out of the truck.

I simply would not sleep in a daycab. Simple as that. They provide a hotel room daily for my time off duty.

I would definitely take this up the line with both management and safety. I would also talk to he local scale (anominously) to get what the thoughts of DOT are on this, and pass that along to management and safety as well.

Regardless, I'd be out of the truck today if no accommodations are provided immediately.

If it is REQUIRED, the DOT officer has to show you from the green and white Bible. They can play God all they want, BUT they have to show you chapter and verse from the written word. Can I get an amen? How about a hallelujah?

Years ago a DOT cop asked me for motel receipts and told me that I had to have them. I told him that my company used the CLC hotel cards, that the company was billed for the hotels, the drivers did not get any receipts, and that if he wanted to see them he needed to contact my company. Told me never mind and didn't bring it up again. I asked our safety dept about it and they said that they only used the CLC billings for accounting purposes and that the FMCSA did not require them to save them as a supporting document.

The HOS have been updated/revised/changed several times since 1970 some in last 5-10 years. While stories from the past may be interesting they don't determine the rules now.

To answer the HOS rules google FMCSA HOS + topic. It doesn't matter what a company allowed in 1984, or 2018. It doesn't matter what some trainer allowed in 2020. It doesn't matter what someone's done a few times but never earned a ticket. Not getting a speeding ticket, for example, doesn't demonstrate speeding is legal.
