Folks had one growing up. similar to that except it had a single drive tire in the front , uf you wanted to go in reverse turn steering wheel 180° . Called either a Ride king or Lawn king , 10hp crank a spring handle hit a lever to start , was quirky.

I drew short straw to put an engine back in a machine someone else took out. Just having the time of my life trying to figure out what bracket goes where, which way hoses and harnesses are routed etc.

Or a guy that don't over compensate with vehicles. I wear my work boots in bed for more traction.

You can't leave a hole big enough to drive a truck through in this crowd...because they all know how to drive the truck. :)

Young girl out of Kentucky that comes to my tractor & engine show had one like you are describing. Hers was called a Mighty-Mow. But just as you described all directions left / right / forward / reverse are in the steering wheel, just turn and keep going.

I had a Springfield mower when I was growing up, the deck was missing but I just rode it around on the farm so that didn’t matter. Built in 1957…..
