Be sure to come back and tell us how TX laughs you out the door. Rent a room and have your roommate or landlord write you up a lease. No need to bring anyone to the DMV.

you don’t have to prove residency in a state to get a PO Box at the post office. So theoretically a UPS store address shouldn’t be acceptable either.

In Texas ( and maybe other states), if you come there from out of state and stay at a hotel for 30+days, you are a resident and don't have to pay taxes or fees that the regular guests do. This is codified into law. No lease, utility bills, can have mail sent to you at the hotel because that is your residence.

I know a guy from Alabama that is staying at a hotel in
DFW and just got himself set up here, registered his car here and switched the plates from Bama to Texas. He lives in a hotel in DFW off I-30 with truck parking on the street behind it.

you can't give the TxDPS a PMB address when you go to renew your license, the computer system won't take it. But once you have your license, you can change your address online and put in the PMB address, you get a new license in the mail with the PMB address, zero issues. I usually waited a few months first tho. you need a "real residence" address in Texas to set yourself up, but you don't need to keep it. 1500 is a lot of money for a place you see once a month for a day or two. CDL is good for 5 years.

Appreciate it. I still haven't had a chance to get to the drivers license office. So what if I have the PMB as my car insurance and say a utility bill? They would still not accept it right? I wonder if I just have to just have one thing for a real address say a lease agreement. Then they may not reject it? So basically one PMB address with car insurance and a bill or something. And a physical address for the lease or something.
Before I change my address online later.

yeah doesn't matter if you show it's already in use for everything else in your whole life for 15 years, the DPS computer system won't accept it as a real residence address when you're there in person. only people who get to use a non residence address on their DL are felons or a judge
