Those guys in afton have 2 cycle Detroit parts, rebuilt a 12V71 a few years back and they had a good selection of kits. Also had injectors and many other items for 53’s, 71, 60 series and cats. I’m sure they will be able to help Matt out.

I tried again with sis, lots of the part numbers say they’ve been replaced and to ask my dealer, are the new numbers not available?
wondering if @wore out out has anything on this?

On an A I’m not the best.
Pistons are gonna be 9Y4004
Ring set is 4W-8922
Rod bearings are 328-5524
243-6728/03 is the main kit with thrust washers
7W-4990 is the proper cooling nozzle.
on the fuel nozzles do you know if you have the pencil style or capsule style?
I currently don’t have SIS or the abilities to look it up off serial number or arrangement number. If I had the number off of what your motor calls for that would get us where we need to be
On the turbo if you would consider aftermarket a 199119 works really well on the A. A 198123 does as well. Both are available from several sources. For what ever reason I’m drawing a complete blank on the CAT number for those.Last edited: May 23, 2025 at 6:22 PM
Matttargett4 and Oxbow Thank this. -
Check with your cat dealer and ask for classic parts, I’ve found parts for older engines in that section. Numbers get superseded quite often. Did you say that you didn’t have a s/n or arrangement # ? A # should be stamped in the block if the tag is missing, it should be top back of block , left side just under the head, I’ve found some there, not always but, if it’s there you got lucky.

Thanks for the replies
my serial number is 90u02449 and the arrangement number is 6n9954.
from what I can see the difference between that arrangement and the 360hp 1w6375 is injectors and turbo, if I use the aftermarket turbo @wore out suggested that’s easy, I’m not sure what style injectors i have, how do I tell? I’m also unsure about how the fuel pump piston and plungers compare between the two arrangement numbers as I can’t seem to find any parts info on the pump internals. Perhaps all a models are the same inside the pump?
