    Hello,

My name is Hal, and I’m a licensed CDL-A driver looking for an opportunity to gain hands-on experience. I recently completed my CDL training and am eager to start my career in the trucking industry. I’m a hard worker, safety-conscious, and would prefer OTR.

I understand that many companies require experience, but I’m committed to learning quickly, following instructions, and being a reliable member of the team. I’m ready and eager to work.

I am older (but still fit) as I am retired military. Because I have been retired (writing a book), the starter companies (ie Swift) wont take me as I "need" work history last 3 years. The smaller and regional companies wont take me as their insurance requires experience (usually 2 years). So, I am hoping that I can find an O-O who would like to team, and is willing to take a chance.

As an investment, I would buy me in a heartbeat. I missed 2 days of work in 22 years in the military. I have over 8 years sea duty, which means sleeping in smaller places than a truck, and I wont be getting seasick, so that is a plus. I have a spotless driving record, and I give things my all.

As a person, I am a funny guy. Get along with almost everyone, read a lot, dont smoke, dont really drink (a beer now and then, last one was 3+ months ago). Can talk about almost anything. Love football and hockey, am divorced, and I have a small dog (a pug mix). I dont care how long we are out, and as far as I am concerned, the longer the better. I have two daughters that live in Temecula CA, so if you are from near there, that would be a major plus!

If you're looking for a motivated driver who’s ready to prove themselves, I’d love to talk further.

    Thanks for your time,
    Hal

On your applications are you listed being retired as being unemployed.
Unemployment and Retirement are two different things.

    What is your approx location?

You'll get better responses if we know basically where you are.

A valid zip code would be just great.

Also: what CDL endorsements (if any) do you have?

The more CDL endorsements you have -- the more attractive you are....to potential carriers...&/or teammates.

If you don't have them yet -- go back, & get the hazmat, tanker...& also...doubles/triples endorsements.

The better opportunities will require them.

Update your US passport, as well -- for potential loads going into Canada.

I am in the Riverside CA area (92501). I have tanker endorsement. I have no truck restrictions (I do wear glasses, but trained on a standard). And I have listed retired (not unemployed). Does not really help. Have been told several time "company policy" is to account for last 3 years. Have called DOT HQ and talked with them, and while they agree that their rules do not stop (or are intended to prevent) a retired person from returning to work, each company has their own policy. Which seem strikingly similar.

    Chinatown Thanks this.

If you want to start things off in a team environment, you might submit a complete application to Benny Whitehead:

Trucking Company hiring new drivers, top paying, benefits & bonuses in all of the south east, based in Eufaula AL.

They run teams from east coast to the west coast (mostly California) -- meat in, fruits & veggies back out.

Your teammate is actually a trainer -- for a full year.

    Tractors are Freightliners & Internationals.

I'm told they are still hiring & training novice drivers.

    No CDL endorsements are needed.
