The entire problem is the Canadian treatment of the offense.
Indictable offenses = felonies here for the most part but some misdemeanors are considered indictable in Canada.
That's why DUI, usually not a felony here [at least first offense] is a problem at the boarder.
Most of the individuals I've had turned away were somewhat obvious things like 'receiving stolen goods', etc.
Oh Canada… need help with entry : )

Wonder what it is ... still the story is half finished.
By the way OP, I always hand them both my passport and my license, these canadian custom's people are easily confused. -
Not sure of validity, but I have been told that entering Canada in a truck active in commerce is treated a bit differently than entering in a personal vehicle.
No idea personally, though. -
Just go. Then you can tell us how it went.

I've been up there once into Ontario in a truck, just recently actually, and let's just say the extra pay per mile wasn't worth the hassles and attitude I got at both border crossings. They can send their own drivers down here to pick their crap up as far as I care because I ain't ever going back up there for any amount of money. I of course see their bozos down here all the time in certain parts of the country, usually clogging up the slow lane, but don't think I ever saw another US truck while I was up there. They are kind like the United States' bratty little sister who nonsense we can only roll our eyes at while letting out a loud sigh. Don't even get me started on Mexico. (Aye aye aye what a mess...)
So I don't think you're missing much.kemosabi49 and Tb0n3 Thank this. -

I was denied entry many years ago simply for being arrested in the USSA. It didn't matter that I was never convicted. They told me I couldn't come back. I've never tried again. I spoke to several organizations, law offices and various Canadian agencies and the general consensus was they can do whatever they want for any reason they want.

Must be different in different areas. I ran to AB and BC 2 or 3 times a week for a couple years and never had a bad experience going into Canada. The one time I got hassled and had the truck searched was coming back into the States at a port I crossed multiple times a week. Got to deal with a new guy on a power trip.
Going into Canada at Coutts and Roosville it was usually the same people working. The US side was always different people because they’d rotate them in and out.
