We had a driver at keen for awhile that was a former monfort driver.

    he retired last year.

Could tell a truck stop counter story with the best of them.

But no way in hell did they run a 100 plus. Most have no idea what a true triple digit truck takes. How hard the wind is to overcome. Or that 3.36 rears, .73 overdrive tall tires comes out to less than 110 on the calculator. Then you add weight, wind etc. taller gears just makes one like a 4 cylinder 5 speed Ranger or S-10 put it in high gear after winding 4th out and you loose speed. Yet at normal highway speed they will cruise. Rant over I’m right there with you I’m not saying them boys wasn’t hard on the skinny pedal but they wasn’t setting land speed records at the salt flats for sure

That's why this is about the only place on the internet that I care to visit... one of the last cool corners of the internet with cool people..

every other social media app is like whats been mentioned here. A bunch of blowhards that sit around, ain't done nothing with their life but know everything there is to know about everything, and we're all doing it wrong.

My 77 had a 8V92TA / 12513 / 4:63. It would run close to 75 if you really pushed on it, but that was all she had.

Many forget the Monfort days were 55mph days, so 70 mph seemed like they were screaming as they went by….
