    Spoke to
I've been through Brooklyn a bunch I’m just overly concerned about exiting and entering Manhattan. And everyone I ask in my circle of drivers gives me conflicting info. And my truck gps and apps are all conflicting also. What a cluster

You can assume a truck route will be fine for 13'6". Hence the TRUCK part. Also I hate that PDF with a passion. What kind of computer do you need for that thing to run at a usable rate?

I'm not kidding about that PDF. It's ####ing 52MB for a single page.

Bunch of “truck routes” have 12’6 clearances IE 3rd ave bridge from the Bronx.

As I previously mentioned, 12'6" in NYC is 13'6" everywhere else. I've gone under many. It's completely stupid, but it is what it is. Unless it says ACTUAL on it. Which is completely asinine, but again, it is what it is.

    Which is worse?
    New York
    Memphis
    Atlanta
    Chicago

    The cities, not the states.
But turn it around to the states...

    Which is worse?
    New York
    Tennessee
    Georgia
    Illinois

New York tops my list of randomness for one reason...
They deceive at even the most basic level, that of clearances.

Can't even believe what the official sign says with them.
They don't use the same numbering system on highways as the rest of the country. Backwards and no regard to distance.

There are two states that should be avoided if at all possible.
One didn't make my top four because it didn't have a city worth the effort, and it is at the other end of the country.

3rd ave bridge clears at least 13’8 @ the pedestrian crossover at the end of the bridge to 2nd ave. I know what the clearance signs say.

*Don’t listen to people repeating garbage they heard 30 years ago or naysayers that couldn’t do something tell you how it can’t be done.

This site is to help people be better at what we all do: you got questions- surely someone gonna have an answer. Just got to separate the wheat from the chaff.

You’ll be fine. If you get stuck on south st til lunch time; there is a taco shop at the south end of the block & across the street down past pier 17 that is good- they got a weird operation tho: you get to the front of the line, order, pay, wait, get handed your order and leave off before they’ll help the next customer. Excellent burritos tho

I’m here now. I got a good jump on the drive so I just did what the venue suggested (I drive entertainer bus with trailer) and went the length of Manhattan on 2nd ave. Cut in on the RFK at like ~130th st and just rode it down. I’ll tell ya this much, the view from here as the sun comes up is special. The more I can learn about driving in this city the less white knuckle terrifying it become.

This is where your dispatcher should come in...

    New York.

I'd say Tennessee, mostly for some of the awful roads in the eastern part of the state in the mountains. Georgia second for the same reason. Illinois and New York on top, because I've never had a road turn to dirt on me in either..
As far as interstates? Eh, they're all about the same once you get past the big cities.
