When you re-rate the motor, everything behind it has to be checked, to see if it will handle the increase in torque. Pull the cover and check the clutch, you need the model. The transmission, will it handle the torque, input shaft, is it a 2.5 inch. Drive line, rear gears, axles. Everything has to be checked. Spending a lot of money uprating a motor and then having to replace everything behind it one at a time is very costly. I did a lot of re-powers and upgrades when they did not care, then the customer would come in and complain, that his clutch slips on a pull, he blew the case apart on his transmission, he cork-screwed his drive line and damaged the frame. These were experienced truckers, that drove the same truck, one slip and it will go boom. Just a thought!

Two weeks ago Milton Cat in Batavia, NY told me "around $550" to turn mine up from 475 to 550....

I remember years ago if your warranty was up they used to charge just an hours labor for the flash if you had the correct turbo, injectors, etc......guess times have changed huh ?!?!?

hes right but if you behave yourself you shouldnt tear anything up im runing a 3406 built to about 650 hp with 1316000 miles grossing around 130000 most of the time and have never tore anything out of my truck got a 16913 with ds404 3.70 rears and 1760 torque driveline. its how you drive it that makes the difference.

It is not the drive down the road, everyday drive that breaks things, it is you going around a 25 mile an hour corner grabbing a gear and hitting a patch of gravel. If you can drive with equipment that is made to handle 100 HP and you have 200. Then you are the greatest. For the rest of the world. If you play you will pay if you do not have the right equipment. just a thought!

:smt023 JohnP3... As always, you are 100% correct,. I have enough broken stuff(once is to many) without intentionally breaking the truck.

i'm having the front cover pulled on my c15,is there anything that i need to replace while i'm in there? i was thinking to replace the thermostats, water pump and have the bearings pulled. i want to have the rack set,due to i was told it'll help with mileage.
