Your life is what you make of it. The world owes you nothing simply for existing and breathing air. Every time someone has a suggestion for you it’s met with a rebuttal of why it can’t happen or won’t happen.

The point I was trying to make is that there are many jobs out there that pay what you want or more that don’t involve dragging a box around the country and not having a place to call home. You’re going to have to work through your past in order to have those opportunities in life. The fact is you have some unrealistic thoughts, such as not moving until you can buy a place of your own, when anyone that is motivated by the thought of a better life would do whatever it takes to move away from the situation they say they don’t want to be in. Anywhere in the country would have a better job market than Florida.

 

I didn’t exactly have a rough childhood, dad passed from cancer when I was in 8th grade, was sorta on my own through my high school years. But I left the morning after graduation and went to New Mexico. My brother was working for a fiber optic contractor and I got on as a laborer running a shovel. It was double what I could make staying in my home town and I couldn’t wait to get out. Since 1996 I tried living back home once for a couple years and I couldn’t handle it. I have family and some friends there but man it’s tough seeing the ones who didn’t leave town because they just accepted that’s what their life would be.

I can say I have no regrets about any of the changes I’ve made in my life and even things that didn’t work out I have appreciation for. It kind of sucks reading the posts on this thread where someone has 100 reasons why they can’t change their life. I’ve packed up and moved for jobs. I’ve sold a truck and moved and went back to an old job just to get out of the place I was in. I don’t know, I feel bad for the younger people who think the world owes them.
