Thanks Alex. I appreciate your kind words as usual. During the situation, I felt like a kid who needed a shoulder or someone to cry on. I gave up my cat for this and feel like I jumped the gun. I do believe life is all about learning and I learned a lot. Is he a good guy? Yes. Is he a good trainer? No and yes as I learned a lot.

I have a couple of questions for trainers that roam this forum:

How do you determine whether a student backs up at a shipper or receiver?
Do you take showers as a team or make him/her do it individually?
What rules do you have for the truck?
What incidents would you put the trainee out of the truck?

    KH

I have never been a trainer for otr,...However I was the trainer for a local company when I was there,...

Every one of the new guys backed the truck every time,...I didn't care about the time or how tight it was,..They needed to learn,..

Team showers???,...Are you kidding me???,.......Was this guy your "good buddy".????,.....

Rules were simple,...DOT policy first,.company policy second,...Everything is about policy and procedure,.....

I never had a trainee that I didn't feel was ready when he was done with training,..

My name is Jerry. I am the one Hunter talking about, a bad trainer kicked him out off the truck. I am not a fan of socialize thru the Internet. Hunter introduce me this website when i took him on February. I found this thread while waiting for the traffic to get moving in AR due to the tornado touch down ahead of us. And i have to respond to what Hunter said, at least people who don't know me won't swore at me in their heart and curse at me. I do believe in karma.
First i should apologize for hurting hunter feeling by kick him out off the truck (twice). I took him 2 months ago with detail agreement (you guys can ask him what i promise him and what i can't do for him). I explained to him he won't under my insurance due to his situation as a newly grad. I forwarded my insurance reject letter to him. So i ask him to twice more careful if i decide to take him in. He agreed and i flew him to VA. I don't have to go to detail why i send him home from California. I just can't keep someone (either student or experience driver) if i feel they are unsafe to me or others.
Here my explanation to you HUNTER which i already told you when you asked me WHY. By the way i am a married man with a lovely wife and a son and i don't take a shower together with any man or any woman other than my wife.
    1. I let you backed in the first day i pick you up in FL. I told you that day i didn't let you backed in on that particular customer because i don't want you to hit the concrete guard which only 2" from both side of the trailer tire. I explained if you keep missed it what you did nothing but just keep on scratch on the tire , i only have one truck/trailer and i try to minimize any damage to it(and i have to do 5 pull up according to you trying to avoid the concrete). And seem you accepted my explanation.
    2. The reason i was so upset because there was no excuses to run off the light. Knowing you just started 40 miles and got couple hours rest prior to the incident. And i never force you to drive, i asked you if you up to drive first and i told you probably only 3 hours max and i will take it over from there. Driver axle already way pass the red light before you can turn to the right to avoid the impact. I didn't say anything when you said sorry but i asked you to pull over and i turn around to go to our direction and didn't say anything but listen to you saying (you trying your best not to damage the truck?). All i asked from you is to be quite because i was so upset because that should not happen even though you claimed you are a slow learner. That's your second incident that day and thanks God no one hurt and no cop. I DID raise my voice until you called 911 on me because i don't let you call anyone? Instead i let you called 911? You were in my truck for nearly 300 miles safely without harm and even drop you off at Greyhound after you call 911 on me? Gosh Hunter, it is i am not a good trainer...and i am also not a good person to you now. But i did try my best. I took you with all the risk in my back just because no one give me that chance 12 years ago when i started it. I gave you your pay check did i? I truly wish you good luck as you try to find a good trainer. And as i told you, i didn't take you to employ you, i took you to give you some experience while you looking for a steady company to work for and i did pay you. I didn't purposely took team load to run you out. It just because i came to p/u you up in FL and don't want to stuck over the weekend. And i asked you if you ok to run this load.... Only second day you drove 3-4-3 (10 hours total). The reason i have to re adjust the log just because you can't drive 10 straight yet and i said i understand that since i was like you when i started it.
Bottom line why i send you home from there because i felt unsafe to put you behind my wheel. I do admire your effort but i wanna live too. And i feel that moment i am not the right trainer for you. And i don't want to hurt your feeling even more and i don't wanna get stressed out. I don't owe you anything and you don't owe me anything. GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!!
Sorry to you all for the long email. This is the first and will be the last. Thank you!!!

Hold the bus-You called 911 on him??:biggrin_2554: Then he still took you to Kingman??? No offense KH but I see where he is coming from asking you to be quiet, sounds like he was stressed out with worry. As far as the team load
Im not picking on you, hell I like your enthusiasim (sp) I just dont understand your whole situation I guess. But anyway good luck on the regional/local work where you can get home more.

Remember, there are three sides to this story.. KH's side, Jerry's side and somewhere in there the truth.

I'm sorry it didn't work out for you guys..

I didn't have plan to tell my side of story. My opinion, what already happen is happen. But when someone discredit me and disgrace my integrity, that is different story. I understand sometime we said something beyond the line because of our anger, but anything beyond the truth is a lie. I never run to FL and didn't know any good broker for the area, to show you how much i want to give you that chance (you asked me for second chance, i wasn't offer) i took another chance to go down there and probably will never see my $3200 from the broker i dealt with. You know the hall story and i didn't complaint about it even a bit,it was nothing to do with you, it just my other bad luck. It's my fault from the beginning to go to FL. I gave the best recommendation about you hunter when you out of the truck the first time. Never mention why you off the truck what so ever, unfortunately ain't work out for you. Now this is the best you can tell the world about me? From day one when you said you are a member in this forum i asked you not to mention anything about me and minimize about our trip stories...i know the trip won't be smooth and everyone have their opinion and i don't want to be judge with little mistake we might did. For you to know Hunter, my insurance called me and asked if anyone holding CDL in my truck. God knows how they know. Probably the 911 operator track the information you gave them regarding i didn't insure you driving my truck and called my insurance? Whatever it is i screwed for taking you in the second time. You said i use your log book to drive? I will admit for adjusting the hours since you can't drive more than 5 hours at a time. Probably this will go to the DOT too? By the way FLYING J didn't wire money or receive any wire transfered...no truck stop taking wire transfered except they have money gram/western union service. FLYING J not one of them. Gosh....God help us out.
I promise i will only post once but now i post second. It's frustrated for me Hunter as much for you. Let you go second time after only one week is a bitter experience for me knowing you failed me the first time, i felt like a looser. My wife never agree for me to take you in second time and i still go with my guts thought you really want to learn and remembered my pass in the hard day. But i didn't expecting this. Now my self is a failure.
To other members, anyone can help me to cancel this account. I don't know how and didn't find any instruction to it. Thank you !!!

    Ken,

You are right there are three sides to a story and you have my respect for saying that.

This may be my last post on here for a while. If I am told I am getting off I like to preplan and get myself as much money as possible like I mentioned earlier. I admit I made a mistake and messed up. It is over and done with and I am moving on. I think working for a bigger company would be better.

Getting dropped off had its perks and I am glad I went through this as it made me get tougher skin and am sorry that my loved ones including friends had too. I apologize to JJRanch and Pandhandle and my family if they are reading this as I called JJ and Panhandle first rather than my family. As soon I get money saved, I am going to S. GA.

    The one and only KH
