As a person who didn't have a Leave It To Beaver childhood my own self, and who's been ripped off and screwed over many a time in this industry, I can tell you why I'm happy and successful and you're not.

I spend my time finding solutions.

You spend your time finding excuses.

(This is my first and last post in a thread I've subscribed to only through sheer morbid curiosity.)

Mainly because all companies ive run east coast with like doing back to back loads in the northeast and it ends up where im stuck uo there essentially doing northeast local

Its all short loads and I already dont like doing short loads, I prefer 1,000+ mile loads because bumping docks every day never made me anything and multistop freight i had a complete unwillingness to do

Only way id run northeast is 80%+ drop and hook, and knowing northeast thats rare ive never had a drop and hook except a few places in upstate New York when I did tanker

Then most of my current options for companies are refrigerated which is no drop and hook, drakebush turned me down today because I dont wanna run northeast

They claimed they have plenty of freight everywhere in all lower 48 states but wont hire bc I dont wanna run the east coast cities despite them offering 70cpm for all northeast miles, its absolutely crazy they claim they have miles then say no bc I dont wanna take the work for free loads. Im all for doing a company a favor but when the favor involves me earning nothing Im not much interested in it and thats how I view any load running east of I77, free labor at 200 miles a day because im 100% honest thats my absolute max I can get on the east coast is 200 a day and its stressful, Im simply not good at the northeast, having to park early and make appointments in northeast is a nightmare

if you want my take on how bad I feel it is? id rather run intrastate California for the rest of my life than ever run 1 load in the northeast again, at least im familiar with Cali, northeast i have no knowledge of any roads and without a GPS i cant navigate the northeast, last time 95 was blocked off I got a ticket for going down a local truck route bc nothing is labeled properly so if the interstate is at a stop I just park it

Might have to say screw it and take it anyway despite hating refrigerated freight

Currently my options are looking like NCI, Drakebush, Big G, HMD and Western express and I hate refrigerated freight i just cant hardly make a paycheck on it

And reason I have to eat out is I have no money and my other option is peanut butter sandwiches, last time i kept canned food in the truck the cans basically exploded and got everywhere, most companies dont have a fridge in the truck and I refuse to buy one because I know if I get fired they'll try to steal it from me because sadly I immediately gotta have the worst case scenario at every job I go to that im gonna be stranded and forced to get home on my own after the last 2 companies

Yeah im literally one of those dudes I automatically assume my pay at any company wont exceed 1500 miles a week and im gonna hate any job i go into because ive never had anything go right for me long term then when it starts getting good something goes wrong and im back where I was and it genuinely sucks I cant even hope for the best or plan for it

I dont wanna be negative, I want to work and im not even that picky

I want 60cpm+, nothing east of I77, no driver facing camera, no uniforms, no refrigerated and average runs between 1000 and 2000 miles

i even run canada and know enough French to talk to customers hauling Quebec

I work for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, and Texas utilizes CDL driver inmate trustees who are allowed to get behind the wheel and drive with us. Sometimes overnight, but they obviously can't leave the state and have to be escorted.

Even though they're not getting paid, the OP wouldn't stand a chance getting a driving job in prison.

I think u must forget that trucking businesses are in it to make money.. if all their customers are in a certain area, why would they send their truck to an area they have no freight?

My company says they run the entire country but they don't... maybe if a customer pays the right price they will. I ended up in illinois/Indiana earlier this year.. The vast majority of our freight is on the west coast, even then they still use brokers for backhauls, and ain't nobody making money doing that other than the driver...

I'd love to see you come work with this company if you say you can run and willing to work since u talk a big game.. dispatch will leave you alone to run ur own show, no hand holding and they will run you like a rented mule if u want em too. In my opinion these are some of the best dispatchers ive ever worked with but my experience as a company hand is limited.... home for a 34 every weekend or u can stay out..
if I was a bettin man you wouldn't last a week here, and this is the easiest flatbed work I ever done.. but we got a camera in the face and stick shifts and get paid poverty wages...

You got to understand every single driver that gets hired at any trucking company always talks about how good of a driver they are, until they get tossed the keys, and work lined up. Then it's all about what they can't and won't do and this that and the other....

Not to long ago I hurt another drivers feelings because he was #####ing about he got 1 of the only w9's in the fleet and wanted the 389 instead...refuses to drive an aero truck because it looks gay...made me laugh i said they all make the same money at the end of the day..starts batching about dispatch sucks blah blah blah blah .. told him I hit 4k miles the week before and he called me a liar... said there's no way anybody can run those types of miles it's impossible.... lol #### like that cracks me up . Some drivers act like they are slaves and can't possibly find work anywhere else if it's that bad

I doubt theres such a lack of freight that no company can afford running anything except the eastern US thats simply not factual in any way, if there wasn't even enough to break even the entire western US west of I75 would be in ruins and suffering great famine and starvation if trucks simply isn't earn money so we can look at process of elimination coupled with some common sense to know freight is there and profitable otherwise the united states would be experiencing much more discourse than some political BS in some cities here and there, would be more like complete lack of food on the shelves

I'll drive anywhere else in the country and even ran dedicated from Aberdeen or Yakima Washington down to either LA or Bakersfield pretty often, and even did runs from Bakersfield CA to Marlboro NY pretty frequently and runs from Hattiesburg MS or Cedar Rapids IA out to LA.

Freight there companies just wanna bank on northeast freight while robbing drivers

I have seen how bad life can get already almost died and needed blood transfusion twice in my life and have severe nerve damage in my left arm

My mom tried kidnapping me, and my dad abused me to the point I have permanent scaring and a small dent in the back of my skull when he thought punching me in the skull from 4 years old up until 13 and hitting me with a bat was a good idea so yeah I dont exactly have any respect for either of my parents not to mention dad is a no life drug addict who acts like his time in military makes him Jesus Christ incarnate, when hes just a child abusing drug addict who couldn't put down the drugs long enough ti even serve his country because he thinks its a flex he did drugs the entire time, last I checked physical child abuse was illegal and frowned upon in our society so idk why youre defending it, really strange flex, I know even convicts dont take kindly to the types who defend child abusers either, thats a pretty bad statement for your image dude
