There shouldn't be any current in that circuit when the key is off.

I'm going to untape it today and get a better look. But that tag in the picture is on one of the wires. A terminal resistor of some sort.
I'm wondering if the previous owner had some sort of defeat device plugged in while driving and that's what caused the discolored pins. ???
I know the emissions are intact and operating as it was under warranty when I bought it and had to take it to Cummins NW for warranty work.

The last place I worked before retirement, had a fleet of trucks that used ‘Big Road’. Every truck had a transponder thingy, that stayed plugged into the OBD port 24/7. Don’t recall ever seeing one with overheated prongs.

You need to install the ELD to the truck at the RP1226 connector per the Paccar aftermarket device manual. Not per the ELD instructions. If I had a dollar for every time I removed an mis- installed ELD causing communication errors and intermittent component function I could retire.

Do not plug ELD or logger devices directly into the 9 Pin!!!!

Especially on anything 2020 and newer.

And that blue connector appears to be a terminating resistor for the diagnostic CAN and that is a factory Paccar wiring label.

    That's exactly what it is.
I need to get some good pictures and post of the wiring just an inch behind the port. I can't believe that Paccar made those connections, but we'll see. They are shrink tubed in black.

Bodybuilder manuals are available to public for Peterbilt and Kenworth website respectively. Search RP1226 in your bodybuilder manual for connector views and locations for making 3rd party device connections.

Part number PP207233 is available for plug and play connections from 9pin device to RP1226. No splicing......
