What?
The main part of the bumper is there and intact.
This part is the important part, and all that would have happened is that an enforcement officer would tell you to get it fixed, but it is not an OOS issue.
I would be more upset that there is a Loves mud flap on my trailer.otterinthewater, Oxbow, Crude Truckin' and 5 others Thank this. -
On the mud flaps, I'm not seeing an issue. They're bent out of shape but they're not illegal in my opinion. I wouldnt give those a 2nd thought.
As for the DOT bar, I've pulled them bent to some degree but I dont think I have ever been in a situation where I seen one that bad. It may be illegal, but I dont really know. I dont think I have ever had a conversation about the regulations regarding something like this. It maybe "technically" "not legal", but I dont really know, and I dont think it would be a huge issue with a DOT officer.
In an accident it may cause some issues for not technically being legal, but I dont think its like a 1/2 a cap off a tire.Last edited: Jun 18, 2025

Is the right side bent in more than 12 inches? Are any welds cracked or any other parts of it cracked.
If that far right side is 12 inches or less from its rear face to rear of trailer and no cracked welds it’s legalcke, Sons Hero, hope not dumb twucker and 1 other person Thank this. -
You may get a ticket, but it doesn't reflect on you; it reflects on the company.
You note it on your pre-trip report and move on. Report it to the company and keep a record of it. -
Will you automatically get put oos? Will depend on the officer doing the inspection.
The mud flaps sticking out way beyond the side of the trailer could give you an issue also.. I have a trailer skirt that sticks out about a half inch and it did get noticed when I had a level one done.
Mudflap you probably could have fixed by bending the bar down. The bumper absolutely needs to be replaced and they’re in the $3k range..hope not dumb twucker, gentleroger, D.Tibbitt and 2 others Thank this. -
With the new inspection regs, is your rear-impact guard compliant?snowlauncher, hope not dumb twucker, gentleroger and 2 others Thank this. -
I wouldn't have pulled it either
cke, gentleroger, D.Tibbitt and 1 other person Thank this.
