I suspect that a lot of these guys that give the left blink up yours don't know what it means. Someone did it to them and they thought it was a thanks so now they do it. Don't bother me either way.
To those who don't know how to say "thank you"

That happens to me sometimes in Quebec. I just thought it was the quasi-european thing to do.
-
I didn't know that's what it meant until this thread.

And I agree that it's not just us "youngsters" that don't give the thanks. Actually, I find it to be just the opposite. If I see a CR England, Swift, Stevens, or any other "starter company" truck passing me (I know, I know...I drive slow
), I almost know for sure I'll get a thanks in return. It's usually the owner ops and such that don't say thanks. Maybe they are just bitter because I'm a company man driving for a major carrier. I'm not "one of them" so I must be their enemy. Maybe the "new truck scent" has just warn off and they could care less about somebody giving the all clear. Who knows?
In the end, we're all drivers. Might as well play nice.
I also like when somebody waits to come over. I'm just letting you know you missed me. That's all. Saying thanks then moving over when you feel like it is just fine. That's exactly what I do the few occasions I actually get to see the left lane. -
Sadly common courtesy and manners are quickly becoming a thing of the past in all areas. Yeah it bugs the hell outta me when I don't get a thanks, but then again I have courtesy and manners the way my mama taught me. I guess I'm getting old cause I start alot of sentences with "well in my day...."
JustSonny Thanks this. -
My personal opinion.... High Beam = Jerk....Day or night
Every SAFE driver is checking his mirror to insure proper clearance. Why wear his/her ### out with high beams just as he/she is checking the right one ???
If someone high beams me.....they don't get a thanks....ever. -
One of the (very) few things I liked about my old KW was that the headlights were on a seperate switch than the marker lights, which made it easy to signal another driver over without using the high beams. And I got thanked most of the time. If I didn't, I figured it was because the driver didn't see my signal, so I never worried about it.

The majority of late model KW's have a 3 way switch. This allows companies to run headlights in a reduced brightness mode as a driving light when moving. Dimmer than dim.
With the headlight switch in the ON position. A simple push forward on the dimmer switch....dims the lights even more (driving light setting) -
Mine was older than that. Sounds like a decent idea, though.

common courtesy is not so common anymore! People just worry about me now.

Nah, I'm not worried about you at all...I've read your posts...you seem, for the most part, fairly level headed!
