Rates are crashing and fuel to the moon!

Diesel out west is already .30-1.00 more a gallon than 87 octane. Dang near $5.00 a gallon in certain areas of Oregon.

Not wanting to sound ignorant or rhetorical, but I'm not understanding why the blockade of Iranian oil would have any impact on us since we, presumably, quit buying the stuff some time ago.
Don't we have our own resources?

 

Oil is a global market and choking off the Strait would affect global prices.

 

What's that to do with us? Again, I may sound ignorant, but, #1, we got our own stuff and #2, we are free to buy elsewhere if need be.
I'm not understanding.

 

While we are a net exporter of oil, 1/3 of the world's oil supply transits that strait. If traffic through there can be reduced, it will become more profitable to export oil and gas then to sell it domestically, thus raising prices for Americans. At least in the short term, before the market adjusts.

 

What did Ukraine and Russia have to do with us? Prices went up for a while until everything adjusted.

 

So, it's just Big Oil ### raping us again. Ok. I get it. I knew it must be something like that.
Meanwhile, members of congress are becoming millionaires by manipulating the market. Sounds about right.
