Talked to Deland...my reimbursement for reefer fuel will be on next weeks pay. They said to make sure I put my truck, trip and driver code on receipts like that in the future (even if you note it on the trip sheet, it will sometimes get missed)

Just curious why the dislike of dry van? My thought is i don't have to deal with all of the headaches involved with reefer freight.Friend, hotrod1653, Knucklehead and 3 others Thank this.

No, but they ride way worse, are more easily damaged to the point that they leak(roofs and door seals especially), and have their own unique type of customers I never want to deal with. (Scrap paper, paper mills etc.). Besides, I can haul most dry freight with my reefer, but dry van can only haul dry freight.ncmickey, Friend, Knucklehead and 4 others Thank this.

Paper mills aren't fun, but I'd rather deal with that any day over lumpers, grocery warehouses that hold you hostage for who knows how long, appointments at inhumane times of day, etc. Dealt with all that bs for 14 months and swore I'd never pull another reefer again, and I haven't

No different than what you guys deal with at the Crete dog food place, some of the Kawasaki dealers, that paper mill out west (in NM or CO). I usually don't have long waits or really funky hours that are out of my normal comfort zone, mainly because we do more drop and hook than a lot of reefer fleets. And our trailers are trackable so we don't usually have to go on an easter egg hunt looking for an empty. Besides, I get points for every gallon of reefer fuel I pump, which doesn't sound like much, but it adds up. Lumpers, for the most part, are all done thru txt messages now. They send you a link, you get your unload amount, key in a code from the company for the check amount, and they txt or email a receipt. Can't remember the last lumper I had to speak to face to face.ncmickey, Speed_Drums, Friend and 6 others Thank this.
