Karma. Brought it on himself for speeding.

I like how they specifically mention that he not only failed the basic spoken tests but also failed the traffic control device test.

Not being able to read our signs is probably the single most dangerous aspect of these invaders driving on our roads.

That would almost be like not having any regulation keeping companies in line. That would be abused and a lot of tools out here in trucks would be pushing limits beyond reason.

14 hour clock should only apply to day cabs, when I’m tired, I have a place to sleep

Splitting 5 and 5 is so much different than a 7 and 3? And pausing the clock would depend on how it’s worded. If it’s allowed once per shift then pausing 30 minutes to 3 hours is not that big of deal. Would help out daycab guys who get hung up somewhere since they don’t have the ability to pause their clock using split sleeper.

With an ELD the split sleeper couldn’t be abused like we all used to abuse it back in the day.

Yeah, I don’t see how you get abuse with the ELD. I think it’s a much needed return to flexibility and also it’s a much needed return to treating a professional driver as a professional.

It's just flexibility to keep rates and wages cheap. It makes everybody compete a little harder for the same or worse money. Same old business as usual where drivers work harder for less. The 10 hour rest break was the best regulation they ever changed.

Well luckily nobody can force a driver to split breaks so the ability to ruin your day and possibly week will still be there.

When our HOS exemption goes away next week if I run out of my 14 and have already used my one 16 hour day that means I’m sleeping in the truck. If I sleep in the truck I have to create a log for that day and also the next day. If I can pause the 14 that means I can drive home and clock out.

Kind of funny working a job now where we can't even use splits and wouldn't see a need to extend a 14. Make more money than previous W2 jobs by a long shot. Like a 14 hour day isn't enough?

    Siinman Thanks this.
