Did the women wear the traditional hair style?
Most of them I was around in Florida had the hair pushed up on top of the head.

No, the hair was all different kinds and styles. Nothing outlandish. Long dresses, very conservative. No makeup.
The snake handing really got my attention but I didn't get close enough to see what kind they were. The talking in tongues was supposedly Aramaic but I have no way of knowing for sure. I never said much to anyone. I was with friends but my accent would give me away and the congregation didn't look like they saw a lot of people from outside their Parish. Or their gene pool.
One thing I noticed...none of the women were tattooed. At least not where it showed. The men, yes, lots of tats.

I had a friend, who has since passed, that was a retired First Sergeant from the US Army. His father emigrated after the war, and his grandfather was the equivalent of a Colonel for the German military during WW2. It's amazing how quickly the history of a single family can evolve.

He told me once that his grandpa died in a Nazi concentration camp. After I told him that his name didn't sound Jewish, he laughed and said "no, he got drunk and fell out of a guard tower"

His grandpa didn't actually die during the war, but my buddy had a unique sense of humor.
