There are ads on Facebook for hauling pallets of riot gear and cinder blocks into downtown LA.

Pay is real good and tax free......

I could be mistaken, but I think swift takes a deduction from your check each month for a year to pay for your schooling. After 1 year they return the money on each check.Even if you only do a year there it still seems like a good deal.My private school was 5900

CRST will train you, they will not dock your check but you have to stay a year to get it forgiven, training is in Mira Loma I think

Thanks but Robertson doesn’t hire anybody that’s under 23. CRST never got back to me after always reaching out.

Be sure to stay with them AT LEAST 1 YEAR -- longer will make you look better, later on....

Easiest path forward for learning to drive will be dry van duty. After about 9 months....you can switch over to reefer duty. Later on...if you decide reefer duty sux...you can switch back to dry van.

Knight will also teach you flatbed -- if you're interested.

So...you can learn several freight types -- all with just one carrier.

This varied experience will make you very attractive to later employers.

Knight or Swift are probably two of the best places to get into the trucking industry right now. Both have lots of terminals & dropyards for safe, legal...& truck-friendly overnight parking....that other carriers just don't have.

Congratulations! You know just use good common sense, be present, your instructors need to be doing most of the talking...hint hint..
Try to have fun with your experience but understand your first year will be your roughest. Be sure to get all your endorsements as well as a TWIC card, never hurts.

There's a YouTube channel called My Trucking Skills that goes into great detail about backing concepts. You might find it useful, All The Best

Hey guys I got my CDL on July 23 through Knight. I’m currently in their OTR training for 4 weeks, my last trainers truck AC wasn’t working when we were stopped so he had to get it fixed. A week later he took a Hazmat position, and is no longer my trainer. He would show me how to fill out paperwork and how to stay organized I only had him for a day though. I’m currently with another trainer who is in my opinion in it for the trainer pay, he seems more like a co driver. I’ve been with him since Saturday so I’m giving him till Wednesday to tell them I want another trainer. He doesn’t show me how to trip plan, doesn’t let me fill out paperwork.. I’m not good at backing into spots and he would have me pull around the dirt spot to the parking spot in a truck stop rather than letting me practice my backing. So far the times I have been driving once we get to our delivery he doesn’t ask for me to get off so I can know what to do at the office or guard shack, I’ve only handed a paper to a guard once. He drives when I’m sleeping so I believe he’s just picking deliveries that suit him so he can get the most pay as if he’s using me as a team driver. I asked him what I should look for or when I should begin to turn the wheel for backing in a spot but he doesn’t help with these things. Also when we get to the delivery spot he takes over and drives in the yard and backs himself and tells me to get off and watch, I’m not trying to be rude but he told me he’s been driving for 40 years and so far the times he backs up into a spot he messes up himself so it’s confusing to learn like that. Just last night I asked him if I could take over, he let me. I don’t feel confident in the next 3-4 weeks when I go solo. It’s almost as if I want to quit trucking all together just with this trainer. We’re headed to Utah right now but like I said I’m giving him till Wednesday to see if he helps me out and shows me how to do stuff. What are your thought and what should I do? Thanks you

And yes -- ask your superiors for another trainer.

You learn by DOING -- & your trainer is doing it all for you.
