It is definitely meant to be a tool. I just believe it makes sense to get those 2 or 3 hrs if held up. It's really moreso a means to maximize drive time if necessary. Usually, I'll take the full 10 even if I got one started. I think every minute of the clock needs to mean something.

You, know you can either use the rules to your advantage or you can fight them. Sometimes I do a split, sometime I don't. I've been a couple of hours from home, stopped because the hos clock ran out, woke up a few hours later to see I had regained enough to get to the house, so Yup, put it in gear and roll for the house.
I frequently park for the 10 because it works best on the loads I normally run. I can run say from Littltefield AZ to Walmart in Corrinne UT, drop n hook take my empty run down to Cargil Salt, fuel on the way at Toole UT, park and load first thing in the AM. This load can go to Costco Mira Loma CA, So while being loaded I will show my last 30 minutes of loading as sign BOL and Pretrip, It takes me 11 hours to cross the middle of NV up over Montgomery Pass, thru Bishop and down to the house (Mojave area) take 34 off and deliver. Since I take it in route it does not count againdt home time.
The rules are there learn how to use them.

    Lennythedriver Thanks this.
