They are called spill pads, they are designed to just pick up petroleum products. So if you drop product on a puddle of water you wold pick up the petroleum on top of the water and leave the water in place.Phantom 69 Thanks this.

My co-driver picked up a trailer from Selma yesterday that was part of a rig that was involved in a fatal accident. Felt real uneasy about using it. Got to the rack and it wasn't in the system, so took the trailer back to the yard.
Pulled 5 loads tonight. Pretty good week so far -
I'm trying to throw some more pictures up if yall wanna take a gander just click on my name to the left ... gonna try and get some pics of terminals and drops ... don't have time to do them all today
-
Yeah ... ole slow poke, me ... made almost $1250 last week. I do take my time, but heck ... I'll be 60 in just a couple of months ... or, as my daughter says ... "Dad, you're as old as dirt!"

Worked on my night off, thought I was going to have an easy night. Get to the rack and can't get a green light. Whipe the probe down still nothing, OK I will get to the yard and PU another trailer, I get to the yard my lights on my scully are off so I go back to the rack and load. Didin't have any more troubles with the trailer but it seemed nothing would fit. The sculley lights # the rack stayed greener than Savannah on ST Pats. Oh by the way couldn't get a signal on my Hand held computer had to call 4 every load, get back to the yard & get a signal to my hand held, had to sit there like a big dummy and input my last 3 loads. Well my glass is still half full I made well over $200 4 9 hours worth of work

All in all ... not a bad night except for the aggrivation. Know what you mean about the handheld ... happens all the time to me. Pull into the yard where they have the base station and 20 seconds later everything is flowing as it should. Leave the yard and 20 seconds later you lose the green bar. One day Selma is gonna get tired of giving us the loads that way and then change may happen.
It's usually my back compartment where I have trouble with the probe when I can't get a green light at the terminals ... open the dome lid and wipe it down and usually I am set to go.
I was off last night, but Sid said Saturday he had 60 loads that had to go Sunday and about 15 of those were long loads ... only had 13 drivers available counting both day and night shift. Monday night will be catch-up .... ughhhh. When you throw a 200 mile run on a driver, about all he has time to do is maybe a medium load and a short load afterwards ... kick out that long run and the driver can sometimes pull 5,6 or 7 loads. -
We have it good at Eagle, I get assigned my loads and just pull them as I get them. There are certain stores that I like to run in different parts of my shift, duet to traffic. I have a good working relationship with the folks up at Selma (night time dispatch) and if I want to rearrange my loads they usually work with me. The guys that work for other outfits don't have this luxary. I see Clare is inquiring about Kenan and I don't think they have this luxary. Not throwing Kenan under the bus, just saying this is one of the things I enjoy about Eagle. Just got to keep gas in the ground and take care of the customers.
The only time I don't get to rearrange my loads is when it comes to price change. Price change in Savannah is at 6 PM and we have a customer that gets loads right in to the heart of rush hour traffic. I will get a split that would take me an hour and a half to knock out after rush hour and it will take 2 and a half hours. It all comes out in the wash after it is all said and done. Take care of the custumers and they usually take care of us -
Are the load counts a tad bit higher during a normal weekday when everyone is available? I talked to a Spinx driver a couple of months ago and he said that they couldn't keep gas in the ground Wed-Sat..I bet it was crazy trying to get caught up after the big snow in February..I think it was Feb..man time is flying..

Yeah Phantom ... Sid was just telling me on Saturday night what he had so far for Sunday and how many drivers he had available. Eagle takes loads 7 days a week so if he had 60 loads ready to go on Saturday night it doesn't take into account how many will come in Sunday morning and afternoon. I believe the count is somewhere around 750 loads a week right now ... it was as high as 850 before the slowdown. I know the count last month was a little over 3,300 loads. The furthest out from the terminal we haul is 140 miles. On weekdays ... yeah ... we haul more loads, because we have more drivers available ... whereas in weekends most everyone wants at least a Saturday or Sunday off to be with the family.
Yeah anytime you get behind it is h### trying to get caught back up ... but the good thing about the snow is that the stores do not sell quite as much as they usually do, because folks don't really want to be joy riding too much when it gets all slippery outside.
You're right, that big snow in February was a doozie ... drove all the way to Florence that night and never saw the surface of the road the whole way down there ... only drove 240 miles but it took me all night to get there and back.
When are you coming to work for Eagle???
