Shop charging too much?

Unless you're planning on getting absolutely everything replaced and block machined nobody can really give a written in stone estimate. Had "just a headgasket" turn into a full overhaul recently. Always more to it once it's opened up and you can see everything.

 

There is a 2007 Max Force 10 around here. Kind of a newer model to yours. Dealer put a complete reman in it for about $35,000 ( 3 years ago } I am not sure when they went from flat tappets to roller cams. Price sounds out of line. If it is a roller cam those tend to rotate and wipe a cam lobe. Would not inframe one.

 

I saw a couple of older DT466E engines where the wishbone for the lifters failed. Lifter spun, cam wiped out.
