That needs to be challenged. I suspect that wouldn’t pass Constitutional muster on 14th Amendment grounds.

Is Pennsylvania a blue state? Sure looks like it.

    Already has been challenged.

“A federal appeals court has ruled that Rhode Island can reinstate its truck-only tolling program, known as RhodeWorks, after a legal battle with the American Trucking Associations (ATA). The court upheld the constitutionality of the tolling program itself but struck down a provision that capped tolls for in-state trucks. The initial lawsuit, filed in 2018, argued that the tolls discriminated against out-of-state trucking companies.”

For those that don’t understand about the PA Turnpike.

It is not federally funded or receives State funds.
Does it blow paying for tolls..yes indeed. Do I take into account the additional costs to run it , yes indeed.

I’m going to guess it costs a boatload of money to keep it maintained. Wonder what the costs are just for snow removal etc.

    Are there alternate routes, yes.

It’s important to understand what happened almost 20 years ago
When then Gov Ed Rendell tried to repay his teamster supporters with a pipe dream of an idea…to toll interstates 80&81 in Pa
Never mind it’s federally illegal. The result would have been all the penn dot employees in those areas now becoming teamsters…since All the working class employees of the turnpike are teamsters.
What made it worse was the Pa Legislature went ahead and funded the next 10 years projects on this imaginary windfall
When the feds shot down the idea…the Pa Pike commission was tasked w/making up the shortfall Read all about it

    It’s a battleground state-has been for years.
However in the 2024 election Trump won it,with 50.4 percent of the vote.
