Alaska: Why America's Largest State Is Also Its Most Important
Alaska is a truly huge state that the United States acquired from Russia for basically peanuts. But Alaska isn't just very large, it's also become an incredibly important state for the U.S. in terms of national security for today and well into the future. In this episode, we'll explore how the U.S. came to acquire Alaska, what Alaska means for the future, why it's so important today, and some of the problems Alaska is facing right now.

Lived there for twenty years. Covered every single square inch of that state, including the most remote native villages. No other place quite like it on this planet. It’s like a step back in time. However the nine months of winter take a unique breed of human to be able to endure that indefinitely. Summers are pure paradise. It’s like God flies over the first week of May and Dumps an endless amount of green on everything. 24 hours of sunlight in the north during the summer months and absolute darkness for 23 hours a day in the dead of winter. It takes some getting used to.
