FedEx and Amazon push the same exploitative methods down to their "contractors" who in turn hire their own drivers with or without cargo vans as contractors via 1099. It starts at the top and everyone is just pushing it further downhill until it eventually rests on the shoulder of the drivers.

We have plenty around these parts. They’re the slowest trucks on the road.

FedEx Ground drivers are all paid via W2. FedEx does not allow their contractors to pay on a 1099.

Been seeing quite a few more day cabs as of late.
New Volvo twin screws 90 cents a mile and all you can steal.

No idea how Amazon works, but FedEx Ground isn’t forced dispatch. The contractors that own the trucks bid the runs knowing the schedule up front. Those without a set run have to run wild while they build points to be able to bid on runs.

Sounds like you’re either in a bad area or you’re looking at the wrong companies. What endorsements do you have? I recently sold my truck and went to work for a roughly 40 truck outfit hauling fuel. Equipment is great. Pay is great. No corners cut.

    Deere hunter Thanks this.

FedEx Ground doesn’t allow their contractors to pay their drivers on 1099. It has to be W2.

Deere hunter and Iamoverit Thank this.

I've seen endless ads on Indeed to deliver packages as contractors but the companies hiring were not FedEx. Maybe they're fake or scams?

Not sire on the delivery side. The trucks running hub to hub are required to pay their drivers on W2. Basically XYZ Trucking is responsible for hiring their own drivers but the drivers have to meet FedEx Ground requirements and they have to go to a hub and pass all the test like hooking and unhooking doubles.

Contractors bid runs using points to keep them from cutting rates on each other. You earn points for being on time, running the required runs every week if you’re already on a dedicated route, etc.
