I prefer not to talk to the idiots in the office, due to the alarming tendency to hear the words “while I have you we need to talk about something from 6 months ago…”.

It was swift’s fault being they were the broker on this load, they finally sent the correct pickup number over two hours later….

My mom died two years ago. Not only did Abilene give me a full week off on short notice, they paid me to go to her funeral. They put a load on me to get me from Richmond to Memphis, they put a deadhead on me to get me from Memphis to Texarkana, and they let me drive from Texarkana to Shreveport (and back) on their dime.

It may be that most trucking companies would have done the same thing. But that's not the impression I've gotten from listening to my fellow truckers over the past nine years. My fellow truck drivers have left me with the firm impression that most trucking companies -- and particularly the companies where I could make more money -- would've just shrugged and said "We'll see what we can do, but trucking is trucking". They might've given me the time off on short notice, but they wouldn't have moved heaven and earth to get me where I needed to be like Abilene did.

So it ain't always about the money. And I'm willing to take a cut in pay to work for a company that will go the extra mile for their drivers when the chips are down.

    Same thing with us.

We may not pay OT like some freight lines do, but I like my permanent bid, assigned truck and trailer, and no “job class seniority”.

Somebody better offer me a king’s ransom before I’ll even consider jumping ship.

same here Mack. The difference from XPO to CCFS is night and day. Only difference is on my linehaul run, is I’m pulling the same 4 trailers instead of the one P&D trailer I had.

I hate pulling swift trailers, cheap spring ride that beats the crap outta my back every time I hit a bump and Indiana is full of them….can definitely tell a difference with the air ride on our trailers….
