Watch your speed on 80 from Ft Bridger to Evanston in Wyoming. Couple good drops and one heck of a pull.
The only other thing I suggest going into Salt Lake City is, to make sure your speed is 5-10mph lower than the sign says in on the last set of curves going in. I’ve seen a good number of trucks lay it over on that curve.

Never been there before, but I've been to the Gorge once so if it’s like that, then it's not that bad.
Cool, will do! -
@Cobrawastaken Btw, does Caledonia own that tank wash over here or they're separate and you guys just own separate part of the lot, seem weird to me.
-
The tank wash and most of the parking lot belongs to Quala. Caledonia has the trailer and bobtail parking on the west side of the lot and two shop bays for working on our trucks on the west side of the building. I have heard that Caledonia will be building a terminal with their own tank wash in Cedar Rapids but all I know is they own some land over by the KW dealer. No ETA on when it'll be built.Speed_Drums and nextgentrucker Thank this.

Well, I haven't updated this thread in a while because I wasn't sure how to approach this, but I've thought about it a lot so here it goes.
I mentioned before that I was going to bring up not going west in a long time with my dispatcher and I did last month. He basically said he can't send me out west because the times are tight on those loads and I don't run hard enough for them. He then told me I should be doing 650-700 miles a day every day. I told him that's unrealistic (besides, I run on recaps so that's just not how I roll normally) and he gave me the ol "I did it when I was driving". That's basically when I checked out of the conversation. I told him I'll try to do better. I also expressed my disappointment that nobody felt the need to let me know. The part that's confusing to me is that I didn't have a problem making the deliveries on time when I did run loads out west.
So it's not looking like things are gonna work out for me with this company. I've still only been running loads to the Southeast and Northeast and my paychecks have also started to decline. No plans to quit my job yet, but i definitely won't be here the same time next year.
If you're a hard runner and like to use your hours and take a 34 every single week, I still recommend working here. Good money here if you're willing to work your ### off. I've been trucking for almost 8 years now and I'm tired of slaving away every day. That's why I like running recaps and taking pretty decent chunks of time off but not everyone is lazy like me.Last edited: Aug 21, 2025

I'd tell them, "I'm sorry, but you hired a truck driver, not an expediter." I don't get where ANY dispatcher can say 650-700. He did it? Do it now. Don't hand me your ######## about how great you were. You're a ####in desk jockey now. Talk is cheap.
Request to be moved to a different dispatcher. You have irreconcilable differences with this one.Speedy356, nextgentrucker, Gearjammin' Penguin and 3 others Thank this.
